etf:3409

This guide has been created by specialist English practitioners with considerable experience of delivering GCSE English Language across a wide range of abilities, including low-level learners, in the further education sector.

This resource focuses on the basic skills required for low-level learners to be able to improve their skills in:

New Approaches to Assessment and Tracking in Maths and English

etf:3123

The Education and Training Foundation (ETF) recognises that Assessment for Learning (AfL) is an intrinsic part of the learning process as detailed in the Assessment for Learning: Effective Practice Guidelines1 which were co-created with the sector. This guide builds on these guidelines and is primarily written for teaching staff. It can be used as a reflection tool to develop your practice in AfL approaches and contains practical activities to adapt and use with your learners. It contains practical ideas to help you introduce more effective assessment techniques into your teaching.

New to ESOL Guidance: Teaching & Learning Materials for Learners New to ESOL and Literacy

etf:3083

All of the materials developed for this project are intended to support practitioners (teachers, classroom assistants, volunteers and others) working with ESOL learners who are new to ESOL and new to literacy. The guidance document introduces the suite of resources and includes a series of top tips, a summary of key knowledge and skills, and a bibliography of useful resources for all those working with learners who are new to ESOL.

New to ESOL Screening Guidance

etf:3067

The screening package is a set of resources designed to help identify learners who may be new to ESOL as opposed to those who might join an Entry 1 ESOL class. This screening pack has been developed primarily for non-ESOL specialists. The guidance provides an overview of how to use the screening tool and some general information about the characteristics of learners who are new to ESOL.
