Resources to use with the New to ESOL listening activities.
These listening resources have been designed for use with New to ESOL learners. Each section of the listening resources corresponds to one of the units in the original New to ESOL materials.
The pack consists of five sections, each closely linked to the five topics in the New to ESOL teaching materials. Each section is based around a text and focuses on certain aspects of phonics which can help beginner literacy learners to decode simple, familiar words. It is recommended that the suggested procedure and activities should be adapted by teachers to suit their learners and context, including differentiation and further practice activities.

Maths resoruces from Entry level to Level 3 and also a guide to support staff in developing their own resources. These were developed by Grimsby institute with ETf funding in 2020.
Creative Education was commissioned to manage 15 collaborative projects that improved the readiness to deliver the new Functional Skills specifications from September, 2019. Working with 34 providers from across the education and charity sectors, our Functional Skills Collaborative Projects Programme ran from September 2018 to June 2019 and directly or indirectly engaged with almost 2,200 practitioners and learners.
The Education and Training Foundation (ETF) recognises that Assessment for Learning (AfL) is an intrinsic part of the learning process as detailed in the Assessment for Learning: Effective Practice Guidelines1 which were co-created with the sector. This guide builds on these guidelines and is primarily written for teaching staff. It can be used as a reflection tool to develop your practice in AfL approaches and contains practical activities to adapt and use with your learners. It contains practical ideas to help you introduce more effective assessment techniques into your teaching.
Topic 4 entitled 'My time' contains four units: (i) Socialising, (ii) My interests, (iii) Work and (iv) My community. This file contains Units (ii) My interests, (iii) Work and (iv) My community, only. Each unit contains a series of learning activities and resources to support practitioners to deliver the topic to new to ESOL learners.
The objectives of the pilot were to identify, explore, develop and disseminate, through four practitioner-led collaborative projects, effective approaches to developing student-staff partnerships to enhance staff members’ digital capabilities.
