Maths Starters and Enders Cards

The Education and Training Foundation has produced some cards with maths activities that you can use at the start or end of prison workshops, training or education sessions. All the problems are also intended to help people to develop their communication skills, especially their verbal communication skills. This is particularly important for employability. Being skilful when communicating verbally supports people to seek and keep job and training opportunities and navigate their lives and learning.

Communication Starters and Enders Cards

This is particularly important for employability, or the communication practices people need to take part in to seek and keep work and navigate their lives and learning.

It is a new approach that encourages people to develop their maths skills outside the maths classroom - such as in the gym, garden, library or in non-maths education. Learners complete the 'challenge' by completing activities on 3 out of 5 topics: Estimation, Puzzles/Games, Value for money, Maths facts and Practical numbers (maths used in everyday life. In addition to this set of Challenge Cards there are four more sets, 3 out of 5 maths scheme Guidance Notes and a marketing flyer.
