This project explored supporting learners to take a more active role in the process of assessment by replacing the grading system with specific, targeted feedback.

What is this about and what were the main findings: 

To overcome learners' sense of failure as a barrier to achievement, English GCSE resit tutors encouraged students to analyse questions and their responses without grading them. The initial assessment, based on AQA Paper 1, allowed learners to select a specific skill to focus on and develop without scoring, but supported by improved self-reflection. The project reported that the final assessment had seen a significant improvement in achievement.
