These resources were developed as part of an LSIS sponsored programme to enhance the important work of learning support staff. Each of the resources can be used individually but taken together provide a suite of resources to support individual and/or organisational development. Hospitality and catering: vocational maths guide

This guide is one of a series aimed at practitioners from a wide range of providers, including FE colleges, independent learning providers and those working in the Secure Estate, who support post-16 vocational learners to develop their maths skills up to and including level 2. ETF Maths Pipeline Programme videos: Supporting maths teaching in the secure estate

The clips here mainly focus on maths teaching in the secure estate. However, these short clips also show post-16 practitioners and learners in a range of settings engaged in active learning activities. The main aim is to support practitioners to reflect on and develop their practice; several of the clips could also be used to engage relatively reluctant learners. As well as the set of clips set of clips focusing on maths in the Secure Sector there are other sets that focus on GCSE maths and on maths for vocational learners.

LLU+ (whilst based at London South Bank University), developed and delivered quite a few ‘Maths with ESOL’ type courses and CPD modules – for both ESOL and Numeracy teachers. It’s important to focus on grammatical structures (e.g. conditionals, use of modals, tenses, etc.) as well as vocabulary, and pronunciation too. Attached is a document listing some useful websites (apologies if any of these are now out of date).
