The working environment - Catering Module 1

ESOL support pack for

Catering

The module supports the teaching of Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications in Catering. It is not a complete programme of learning. Instead, aspects of the training that place a particular demand on literacy, language and numeracy skills have been prioritised.

The themes in this module support learners to read and understand important information at work: roles at work, following instructions, reporting incidents, understanding workplace and training information.

Stepping Up in Sustainability: Truro and Penwith College - Leading to Learn and Learning to Lead: from sustainability to employability, greening the local economy

This project looked at embedding Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) across teaching and learning at the College from a strategic perspective, using the College Teaching and Learning Policy and through the lesson observation process and the associated grading criteria. The project went on to seek to embed ESD across curriculum development and teaching and learning at the College through the observation process.

Stepping Up in Sustainability: Stockton Riverside College (with Stockton Borough Council) - Learner-led Sustainability Enrichment Programme

This project aimed to engage learners in sustainable activities through developing an exciting Sustainability Enrichment Programme, designed through learners’ and partners’ input. A transferable toolkit pack was to be produced, accessible on the college’s website.

Stepping Up in Sustainability: City College Coventry: A video guide to learning for sustainability

The starting point for this project was the premise that learning providers need to develop innovative forms of learning infrastructure that make best use of the new generation of learning systems and focus on the delivery of those higher order 21st Century skills that will help society become “low carbon ready”.

Stepping Up in Sustainability: Cambridge Regional College - Developing change agents to support sustainability issues within academic roles

This project looked to develop two change-agents for each of four academic areas (hair and beauty, engineering, essential skills and motor vehicle). One agent would be chosen from the academic team, the other, such as technicians or Operations Leaders, from the support team. The project created a VLE area from which material relating to sustainability could be downloaded.
