Stepping Up in Sustainability: Dorset Adult Learning

The 'Stepping Up Sustainability in Dorset' project delivered activities relating to sustainable development throughout the sub region of Dorset through the recruitment, training and development of a group of community sustainability champions who would work collaboratively with the Service to research interest, plan, develop and deliver activities and open events for the public. As well as capacity building, the project focused on family learning, improving learning delivery and enhancing access to learning. Four case studies were produced through the project.

This sustainable development project aimed to reduce carbon emissions in apprenticeship provision with the use of free and inexpensive technology: This was a research project - in partnership with Vocational Innovation and the ALP Hampshire and Isle of Wight Network - to assess the impact of the use of freely available software solutions and inexpensive hardware, to deliver remote support, learning and assessment to apprentices in the work place, on an organisation's carbon emissions. Supporting collaboration in the FE sector – lessons learnt from the Regional Collaboration Fund (RCF)

This report is an impact evaluation of the LSIS regional collaboration fund (RCF) project that ran in 2012/13. The RCF fund consisted of ten collaborative and mainly regional projects, each worth up to £30,000. The specific purpose of the projects was to support collaboration between sector providers in the implementation and further development of technology in their activities.

Focusing on resource efficiency and carbon reduction, this project sought to develop a simple and low-cost system for allocation of estates management maintenance jobs, as well as a carbon-cost register for recording savings made by webinar-based meetings and training. and a Moodle-based Health & Safety staff awareness training course to reduce the resource costs of delivering this training.

Petroc: Overcoming the barriers of online enrolments

This project aimed to develop and deliver a documented process for improvement of the enrolment process for unfunded and co-funded provision. The main deliverable was a process map and template for online enrolments, with detailed, step-by-step explanations of how to implement the system, which would be designed to be suitable for implementation regardless of the technical specification of individual systems.
