Principal focus of the project:

The focus of the project was on building evidence to support a wider review of the college curriculum, specifically relating to e-learning, with the longer-term goal of reshaping the college's e-learning policy to be more effective and more responsive to teachers' and learners' needs and concerns.

What is this about and what were the main findings:

Research found that 45% of staff felt that they already possessed good IT skills and used e-learning tools within the VLE, though 45% felt that more training was needed. During the student consultation via small group meetings, the topic of improvements was discussed, with three main themes emerging: the format of the VLE needed to be presented in a more student- friendly way; the need for faster wi-fi access over a larger area of the campus; and the Learning Zone needed a silent space  apart from the communal areas where music and food were allowed.
