A guide to setting up an Apprenticeship Training Agency

This guide was developed with funding support from the National Apprenticeship Service (NAS). It provides information and guidance to help prospective ATAs identify what key considerations need to be taken into account in establishing an Apprenticeship Training Agency (ATA). The guide is intended for organisations, including providers and other sector bodies, that are investigating the ATA model and the practical considerations needed to be taken into account should they decide to set up an ATA.

Improving services for employers: West Cheshire College

This resource comprises the outputs from one of a series of projects to test a range of approaches to improving and extending training and related business services for employers. This project examined the college's employer engagement processes to ensure that employer facing staff were able to embrace the changes to their roles brought about by major College restructures. The project sought to enable more delivery staff to have the confidence and capacity to meet the needs of employers identified by the sales team and so extend commercial activity across more curriculum areas.

Higher Apprenticeships: Collaboration for cost effective delivery and development of higher level skills resource pack

A needs analysis of the 21 Higher Apprenticeship organisations, participating in the Higher Apprenticeship Fund in June 2012 identified engagement of both employers and employees as key challenges in order to generate starts on Higher Apprenticeship programmes, along with the financing of Higher Apprenticeships. In autumn 2012 LSIS facilitated a project with a number of Higher Apprenticeship Fund organisations to share and develop emerging practice in delivery and development of higher level skills.

Cut the Carbon: Walsall College

Through this project, working with the New Engineering Foundation, the college looked to support organisations in developing an effective approach to reducing carbon emissions, which would lead to positive economic and social outcomes for learners, employers and communities while also mitigating climate change and other adverse environmental impacts.

Cut the Carbon: Grantham College

Efficiency Flush: Through this project, Grantham College and Boston College analysed their current water usage and explored and implemented practical low-cost solutions to save both water and money. The project involved students and staff in raising awareness and promoting the benefits to the wider community.

Cut the Carbon: Craven College

The aim of this sustainability project was to work in conjunction with Leeds Recycling to make recycling at Craven College a success and to have a ‘Zero Landfill’ policy. This would be done by several means; new types of bins, new composting areas, and the ‘Lets Go Zero’ campaign. This will eventually involve around 7000 people and cut our CO2 Emissions.
