A research report into how the use of imagery in teaching and learning can impact learner achievement and recall
The focus of the project was to encourage tutors to develop and use a wide range of visual learning techniques in the classroom. Adult Community Education Tutors were encouraged to take part in joint practice development or supported experiments, and the resources created during the experiments were then used in the classroom. Impact was measured in terms of tutors' CPD, and learner understanding and recall
Staff members reported the use of mind maps as being beneficial to learners' recall and understanding of basic concepts. Learners, initially resistant to using imagery, enjoyed a different learning approach. Learners with dyslexia were able to use more strategies to overcome areas of difficulty and produced positive results in their learning.
