Functional Skills Collaborative Projects: Getting Ready for the New Qualifications

Creative Education was commissioned to manage 15 collaborative projects that improved the readiness to deliver the new Functional Skills specifications from September, 2019. Working with 34 providers from across the education and charity sectors, our Functional Skills Collaborative Projects Programme ran from September 2018 to June 2019 and directly or indirectly engaged with almost 2,200 practitioners and learners.

New Approaches to Assessment and Tracking in Maths and English

The Education and Training Foundation (ETF) recognises that Assessment for Learning (AfL) is an intrinsic part of the learning process as detailed in the Assessment for Learning: Effective Practice Guidelines1 which were co-created with the sector. This guide builds on these guidelines and is primarily written for teaching staff. It can be used as a reflection tool to develop your practice in AfL approaches and contains practical activities to adapt and use with your learners. It contains practical ideas to help you introduce more effective assessment techniques into your teaching. 

New to ESOL Research Report

This report summarises research conducted by Learning and Work Institute (L&W) for a project commissioned by the Education and Training Foundation to provide support to English for Other Languages (ESOL) practitioners working with learners at ‘pre-Entry’ and Entry Level 1. L&W is an independent policy and research organisation dedicated to promoting lifelong learning, full employment and inclusion.
