Maths and English Provider-Employer Protocols – Enhancing the Apprenticeship Supply-Chain

The protocols offer providers ways to establish and maintain a relationship with employers that is mutually beneficial and therefore far more likely to be supportive of collaborative efforts to enhance an apprentice’s learning journey. The protocols specifically address the development of maths and English skills, but will also be applicable, in a large part, to the wider vocational context.

Improving access to offender learning in the community

This guidance note has a focus on offenders (aged 18 and over) serving sentences in the community under the supervision of the Probation Service. It identifies some of the barriers offenders may face and provides signposting to information and ideas to improve access to learning and skills provision. Version 2 was published in 2014 and the links were updated in version 3 in 2016.

Future Apprenticeships: Provider Toolkit - October 2019

This is the eight edition of the Toolkit (October 2019). It helps providers involved in apprenticeship delivery set their apprenticeship agenda and journey for the next two years. Covering a broad range of topics from strategy and planning to implementation , it takes account of the latest policy developments, provides advice and guidance, and also includes examples of effective practice from providers involved in designing and delivering the new standards. With links to important sources of information and additional resources, it can be downloaded and saved to your computer.

Two Way Street: Wirral Metropolitan College - developing expertise to work with SMEs

Arvia Technology and Altus Science are ‘hi-tech’ chemical businesses based in the Wirral already recruiting advanced and higher level apprentices. This case study illustrates how the college explored whether the existing model of a learner journey could be replicated for a group of learners, not only in large multi-national employer organisations but also within small- and medium-sized local employers. The success of the exchange lay in the open and trusting relationship built with the FE provider and their employer partners.
