As part of Future Apprenticeships the Association of Colleges (AoC) supported a series of apprenticeship mock end-point assessments (EPAs) to test and trail the process. This document provides the emerging findings from this work.
This report (2007) is the result of one of the NRDC Effective Practice Projects. These were a suite of five research projects that had the common aim of investigating the effective teaching of language, literacy, numeracy and ICT to adults. The projects were carried out in two phases, in 2003/04 and 2004/05.
For this report, Refugee Action investigated refugees’ experiences of learning the English language through ESOL. The research explores not only individuals’ experiences with accessing courses, but also their backgrounds and aspirations. It provides a picture of what refugees have done, can do, and what they wish to do with their lives now that they live in the UK.
