Principal focus of the project:

This project worked with SMEs in constuction and sustainability sectors to identify knowledge, skills, and behaviours appropriate for working in the sector. These supported the college's strategy for reposnding to T-level reforms, and their understanding of the work placement element of the reforms. The learners were from deprived and challenging backgrounds, and the project guidedthem towards succesful career opportunities by focussing on the identified skills, knowledge, and behaviours in their work placements.

What is this about and what were the main findings:

Learners developed team building, communication, and time management skills, as well as a strong understanding of the knowledge, skills and behaviours relevant to the workplace. The project also found the extensive preparation for the learners made gaining real work experience more likely while on their placements. All stakeholders saw benefits; for employers this included strengthening their mentoring and coaching skills to provide proper learner support.
