Future Apprenticeships: Equality and Diversity Task and Finish Group

This small-scale research was part of a suite of projects funded and commissioned by ETF as part of Future Apprenticeships. It identifies effective equality and diversity practice in apprenticeship delivery and support methods for apprentices with a disability or learning difficulties. This report includes case study examples to support providers to increase diversity in apprenticeships.

Whole Organisation Health Check Tool: To aid the effective development of learners’ maths and English skills (October 2019)

Our Whole Organisation “Health Check” Tool for the effective development of learners’ maths and English skills is designed to support providers to identify critical success factors for a strategic approach to the delivery maths and English. It can facilitate informed discussion and prompt providers to critically evaluate their approach to maths and English. The Health Check should produce a set of actions that are tailored to individual provider’s circumstances and help them determine the key areas to focus on. October 2019

Mental Health and Apprenticeships – CITB

A number of case studies on ‘Mental Health and Apprenticeships’ have been created as part of the Future Apprenticeships programme. In this case study CITB takes a whole organisational approach to supporting its apprentices and promoting mental health and wellbeing. They showcase effective practice and provide practical examples of how to support apprentices wellbeing and mental health.

In this case study Wigan Adult Learning show how they help to create a culture of openness to allow apprentices to talk about any concerns they may have. They showcase effective practice and provide practical examples of how to support apprentices wellbeing and mental health.

Maths and English Provider-Employer Protocols – Enhancing the Apprenticeship Supply-Chain

The protocols offer providers ways to establish and maintain a relationship with employers that is mutually beneficial and therefore far more likely to be supportive of collaborative efforts to enhance an apprentice’s learning journey. The protocols specifically address the development of maths and English skills, but will also be applicable, in a large part, to the wider vocational context.
