Throughout the 2018/19 academic year, Achievement for All (AfA) funded by the Education and Training Foundation supported 10 project teams whose organisations offer vocational and technical qualifications and support for learners retaking maths and English or adults taking them for the first time. This report details the findings from the 10 original projects and six extensions which ended in March 2020.
This report summarises research conducted by Learning and Work Institute (L&W) for a project commissioned by the Education and Training Foundation to provide support to English for Other Languages (ESOL) practitioners working with learners at ‘pre-Entry’ and Entry Level 1. It is to help leaders and managers in the Further Education (FE) and Training sector make evidence-informed decisions about how best to design the Learning Support Assistant (LSA) role, and to deploy and support LSAs to improve learner outcomes across their organisation, setting and contexts.
This is a project where the partnership wanted to explore ways to enhance induction processes and support for new tutors, develop practitioner led resources to support all tutors, extend the role of their existing APs and maximise the benefit of exchanging practice.

The aim of the programme was to support practitioners to work with employers, as well as each other, to improve and develop the teaching of vocational and technical skills across technical routes.
