Practitioner Research and Evidence Hub:

Principal focus of the project:

The focus was to identify and remove barriers to sharing effective practice within and between organisations, test out ways to share effective practice that work, including innovative technological solutions and build up a reservoir of effective practice examples for dissemination in the medium to long term. The case study outlines challenges that had to be overcome including logistics and technology and the related importance of making it easy for colleagues to get invovled in and benefit from sharing practices. it focusses in particular on 3 research and development projects: developing metacognition in A level psychology, use of the college dog to enahce student wellbeing and engagement and us eof anonline platform to enable teachers to enhance images and videos with additional links.

What is this about and what were the main findings:

The project changed the approach of the colleges involved to staff training and development by introducing new on-line resources geared to increasing flexibility and making it easy for colleagues to access support. Colleagues' skills in use of technology were also, therefore, enhanced. Allowing projects to emerge organically through consultation with staff empowered colleagues to contribute to and engage with the project in a spirit of enquiry. "It was the freedom this gave staff to explore issues and ideas without fear of being judged a failure if they didn't realise specific outcomes, that was vital to success". Data was gathered through interviews/surveys, document analysis, and participant observations.
