Significant improvements are proposed in the collection of data for the Staff Individualised Record 2011/2012 (SIR 20) which is due to take place in autumn 2012.
The improvements will reduce the administrative burden of data collection for providers, while maintaining a high quality data source for continued sector use. They are being introduced in response to the needs of the sector following consultation with the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and sector partners including the Association of Colleges.

Ages of concern: learning lessons from serious case reviews

This is a thematic report of Ofsted’s evaluation of serious case reviews from 1 April 2007 to 31 March 2011. Ofsted reports have consistently highlighted that babies less than one year old and older children have been the subject of a high proportion of serious case reviews. This report provides a thematic analysis of 482 serious case reviews that Ofsted evaluated between 1 April 2007 and 31 March 2011. The main focus of this report is on the reviews that concerned children in two age groups: babies less than one year old and young people aged 14 or above.

A review and analysis of age equality practice in the Learning and Skills Sector

Amersham & Wycombe College: Research and publicity to engage young Pakistani individuals into college life

This is a report of an Ofsted survey of best practice in safeguarding based on visits to 14 of the 15 colleges that received an outstanding grade for the leadership and management of their safeguarding arrangements in 2009/10.
