Principal focus of the project:

The focus of the project was on ensuring that the inital assessment process used for GCSE and Functional Skills Maths was fit for purpose, whilst being streamlined and timesaving for staff.

What is this about and what were the main findings:

Having identified that their initial assesment process was extremely time-consuming, the project selected the interactive tool - MS Forms. The dedicated IA process was developed, reviewed and trialled successfully, before being rolled out across Essex ACL's  9 centres. They reported that there had been a rise (from 55% to 96%) in learners completing the IA and moving on to pre-course one-to-one interviews with tutors, as it had provided a more positive experience for learners.
