This review was produced by the CETTAcademy team as part of an Education and Training Foundation project to review the current literature regarding the practices of initial and diagnostic assessment, as well as progress tracking, in the context of maths and English across the Education and Training sector.

A Padlet by West Suffolk College. This padlet by West Suffolk College provides resources and reading materials based on an enquiry into whether it is possible to align or integrate two complementary CPD programmes designed to strengthen maths teaching and to highlight resources available to do so.

Arvia Technology and Altus Science are ‘hi-tech’ chemical businesses based in the Wirral already recruiting advanced and higher level apprentices. This case study illustrates how the college explored whether the existing model of a learner journey could be replicated for a group of learners, not only in large multi-national employer organisations but also within small- and medium-sized local employers. The success of the exchange lay in the open and trusting relationship built with the FE provider and their employer partners.

These packages have been developed by the Foundation to provide training programmes which providers can run themselves to support teachers to deliver GCSE resit programmes in maths/English. These two packages, maths and English, each consist of an overall programme document including Scheme of Work, 10 session plans including Powerpoints and all resources, and a rationale to explain the general thinking behind the sessions
