Learning Futures Project - FIT Governance

This project from the Workers Educational Association, worked with governors and trustees to capture the skills and knowledge needed by strategic decision makers to drive forward the management and use of technologies in learning.

Learning Futures Project - Teaching in Learning in Sussex

The project from fesussex, developed two toolkits: A Strategic Planning Toolkit for leaders and governors including a 12-question self-assessment on the use of e-learning; an in-depth financial calculator of delivery costs/savings/investment levels and return on investment; and a risk assessment of action/non-action of inclusion of technology within a strategic plan.
A Practitioners’ ‘Getting Started’ Toolkit to develop the understanding, acceptance and use of learning technology by teachers, focusing on the use of VLEs.

Design for Improvement: a service design approach for Further Education providers

Service design is an approach that can be used to improve Further Education (FE) provider services and strategies. This guide describes how FE providers can apply service design processes and tools to improve recruitment, attainment, achievement and progression figures. The tools and process contained here were put into practice by five FE providers that took part in the Design for Improvement programme. Funded by the Learning, Skills and Improvement Service and designed and delivered by Uscreates, Design for Improvement is a learn-by-doing training programme.

Sustaining our Future: a Framework for embedding sustainable development in FE and skills

The Sustaining Our Future Framework aims to:
A. Build common understanding of what sustainable development is about, what it means for the sector and why the sector should collectively respond to it.
B. Alert providers to the business benefits of being a sustainable organisation, and how these benefits can be realised in an increasingly demand-led environment
C. Establish a common set of themes for action.

Stepping Up in Sustainability: Walsall College

Through this project - entitled 'Sustainability and Responsible Stewardship: Bringing it all Together' - the college aimed to: raise awareness and understanding in a number of diverse groups in relation to their personal contribution to the sustainability agenda; enter dialogue with the New Engineering Foundation who would provide data evidencing need, advice and guidance along with on-project support; and encourage individuals to make a big difference. Using the title of ‘Pass it On’- it was intended that a sharing and raising of awareness would take place across a wider audience.

Stepping Up in Sustainability: Sussex Downs College

As the largest college in the South-East, Sussex Downs College aimed, through this 'Eco Pledge Project', to measure and embed sustainable practices working towards a zero waste strategy. Activities were designed to influence and raise understanding of climate change impact both in the organisation and amongst other learning partners, while new curriculum delivery addressed skills gaps in emerging employability areas.

Stepping Up in Sustainability: Otley College with Easton College and Writtle College

This project sought to explore and deliver carbon footprint reductions for the colleges and for staff and learners through the development of enrichment education. Twelve staff from across the three land-based colleges were trained to champion sustainable development in their institutions. These champions developed learning materials for student enrichment and worked with senior managers to develop carbon reduction targets. Stepping Up in Sustainability: Dorset Adult Learning

The 'Stepping Up Sustainability in Dorset' project delivered activities relating to sustainable development throughout the sub region of Dorset through the recruitment, training and development of a group of community sustainability champions who would work collaboratively with the Service to research interest, plan, develop and deliver activities and open events for the public. As well as capacity building, the project focused on family learning, improving learning delivery and enhancing access to learning. Four case studies were produced through the project.

Stepping Up in Sustainability: Cardinal Newman College

The Photovoltaic Cell Project was a curriculum-focussed cross-department activity that aimed to build the students’ knowledge of and familiarity with renewable energy equipment and ideas. The project was the principle feature of the college's 'Our World Week' - a community celebration of sustainability that inhabits Cardinal Newman College for a five day period.
