British Sign Language and Improving Services for d/Deaf learners Report

This project was developed to motivate and support the learning and skills sector to develop their awareness of d/Deaf learners and their needs; improve the sector’s capability and capacity to meet these needs and adjust the learning environment so that it becomes more inclusive; and ensure that, just like other learners, d/Deaf learners have an equal chance to enjoy and achieve their full potential in education.

Cut the Carbon: Walsall College

Through this project, working with the New Engineering Foundation, the college looked to support organisations in developing an effective approach to reducing carbon emissions, which would lead to positive economic and social outcomes for learners, employers and communities while also mitigating climate change and other adverse environmental impacts.

Cut the Carbon: New Directions, Reading Borough Council

This project sought to check and improve the energy performance of two community buildings actively used by local learners. Carbon performance was assessed and specific action improvement plans identified. The project produced a short educational video for staff and the community about sustainable building management, in particular looking at behavioural changes issues.

Cut the Carbon: South Staffordshire College case study

Through this project the Lowering Energy Survey System was used to quantify and analyse energy usage and baseload across all college sites utilising a combination of technology/software and staff/student surveys. The project selected a pilot site and designed & implemented a carbon efficiency plan to reduce overall day-to-day carbon consumption, and minimise baseload.
