Promoting calculation skills through Technical routes – Tractor Driving & Maintenance

etf:2938

One of the barriers to developing maths and English skills during work placement is a lack of awareness and in depth understanding of how maths and English GCSE’s and FS link to occupational areas within the 15 technical routes. This poster attempts to summarise that mapping for tractor driving and maintenance within the technical route of Agriculture, Environment and animal care.

Study supporters - OTLA Digital Case Study

etf:2933

The project was designed to explore the impact of ‘digital home study support’ on the confidence and performance of learners on our maths and English programmes and the mothers of children in the secure estate. Strategies to improve engagement and enhance the quality of the learning experience on these programmes were largely successful although tutors continued to report that learners were reluctant to take responsibility for their learning and continue with their studies at home. In the secure estate, the parents we worked with were experiencing increasing difficulty in trying to keep up to date with what their children were doing in school, which in turn made visits and maintaining positive family relationships much harder.

Digital Feedback - OTLA Digital Case Study

etf:2929

Digital Feedback was a collaborative project between Havant and South Downs College and Capital City College Group that sought to explore the effectiveness of digital feedback in post-16 education. Research indicated that both audio and video methods positively influence learner perceptions of feedback in Higher Education. This project aimed to begin to build the same evidence base for Further Education by investigating staff and learner perceptions of digital feedback.
