Principal focus of the project:

The focus of this project was to address the 'writer's block' that this kind of writing can present to students, by developing strategies for making the 'abstract' process of imagining more 'concrete' and accessible for them.

What is this about and what were the main findings:

The approaches included using stimuli like songs and images, and ultimately a 'toolbox' of strategies was provided to get learners started, for example, in how to use specific language and structural techniques. The project reported that learner confidence, planning and complexity of writing had improved.
