Technical Route -Education and child care
One of the barriers to developing maths and English skills during work placement is a lack of awareness and in depth understanding of how maths and English GCSE’s and FS link to occupational areas within the 15 technical routes. These flyers attempt to summarise that mapping. Job roles are considered, recognising the importance of the technical skills that employers need plus promoting maths and English skills under calculation and communication

ETF worked to create a set of subject specific films where expert practitioners talked about tips and tricks of delivering their particular subjects. As some of the content seemed at times rather generic we have created two sets of films:
1] Films where a teacher from FE talks generally about good teaching practice
2] Films where the teacher talks specifically about teaching X, where X is their subject

Preston College led a collaborative project focused on ways to improve learner support funded by ETF. They produced a number of outputs. This is a reflective record which investigates coaching, mentoring and learner engagement. Two documents developed by Burton and South Derbyshire College. The first looks at coaching and mentoring by comparing the differing attributes of coaches and mentors. The second consists of a tutor observation reflective record template (2015).
This report describes the practice and results arising from in-depth case studies an a survey at 19 providers, outlining the use and perceived impact of advanced practitioners working in those settings.
