Carshalton College has a holistic approach to assessment which includes all delivery staff and subject areas over a period of time. This approach to identifying priority essential skill targets for our learners impacts positively on our learners’ behaviours, with key areas for development embedded into every session. The Vocational Pathfinder Centre is a new provision for young people over the age of 16. This is a partnership between a special School and two further education colleges. It exists to offer young people with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities a college style experience, in which students can develop their confidence, make choices, and practice the independent living skills that they will need to get the most from their life after School.
Selby college has supported post-16 learners with a range of learning difficulties for many years. It became clear that some of these learners would have benefited from spending time at Selby College before 16.
