The aim of this project was to introduce an innovative model of mentoring that is targeted at parents and employers.
The impact that the project has had on parents and mentors has been considerable, it has resulted in them feeling more informed and better placed to support learners.
Mentor guides provide a reference for mentors that are easily accessible and can be reviewed and referred too at times that are convenient to the mentor.
The Hereford & Worcester WBLPRD Group have designed and piloted 4 modules of a mentoring programme targeted at employers who support apprentices in the workplace. The mentoring programme has been designed to be web-based or paper-based and has been piloted with 20 employers across three WBL providers. Peer-to-peer coaching approaches are used to catalyse and embed positive change within organisations.
The College has a determined focus on improving teaching and learning and making changes that will work towards that goal. After a new Principal was appointed there was a programme of structural change in its leadership teams.
The College leadership have put coaching at the centre of their drive to further improve teaching and learning. Through LSIS they have trained 8 Subject Learning Coaches and 2 Advanced Learning Coaches (ALCs). The latter have now completed the ILM lev
MidKent College is using coaching in a number of innovative ways to support both staff and students. With a team of 10 trained coaches, and drawing on a wide range of resources, including the LSIS regional coaching workshops, the coaches support teams and individuals.
The College has introduced coaching systematically for all its leaders to provide tailored and individual support alongside more generic training. It is used to support change and has improved managers’ confidence and competence, helped a process of culture change.
