Darlington College seeks to raise the profile of the learner voice and the involvement of students in College and course management and developments. This will include student representation on the Corporation Board, and Management and Working Groups, through student feedback, and involvement in self assessment and improvement planning.
This report was one of the outputs from a programme of work to identify existing effective practice, disseminate effective resources and promote the voice of d/Deaf learners. The report - produced by the School of Education and Social Science at the University of Central Lancashire - explores the support and information needed to enable and facilitate improved standards of BSL teaching.
The aim of the project was to help with embedding learning in everyday activity for disadvantaged groups. Through training, support workers learned how to help these groups develop literacy, numeracy, employability, interview and ICT skills, and build CVs and self confidence to provide an entry point to employment. Support workers also learnt to work with their clients to use open source web based materials both as learning tools and for general developmental activities.
