Principal focus of the project:

The project's initial focus was on the learners themselves, who have clear and strong views on their experiences of learning support that can inform the findings of the project, as they know best their own support needs. The skills and strategies employed by colleges were identified and applied to approaches for learning support for wider sharing. Five resources and/or approaches were selected and shared between colleges to be trailled, evaluated, and reported to a regional network of learning support practitioners.

What is this about and what were the main findings:

This project promoted cross sector partnership work and a greater understanding of support cultures, and the needs of learners involved. Practitioners at organisations taking part have subsequently adjusted their practice to recognise the importance of using approaches and resources that involve learners in directing their own support, and the way that this promotes greater independence and learner centered support plans.
