Newham College of FE: Standardised learning resources for online delivery of cross curriculum employability skills

eg:6204

Engaging learners in a non-traditional classroom environment such as a PC based area can prove to be difficult unless learners are clearly directed and engaged with materials relevant to their course area. This project explored how to address attendance, engagement and achievement of learners during supported independent study (SIS).

National Star College: MyCampus virtual campus

eg:6203

This project developed the MyCampus online virtual campus to allow students with learning difficulties and disabilities the opportunity to engage with current learners. The National Star College is a residential college and the current web resource did not sufficiently engage prospective learners in a way which met their needs, particularly in providing an interactive information resource.

Loughborough College: Tablets in Education (including Motor Vehicle Workshop)

eg:6202

This curriculum project aimed to enable learners to create work with one device, regardless of location, and make the learning environment to be more recognisable to a modern day learner, using a medium they are more familiar with. This would in turn improve learners' retention of information and ultimately enhance the learning experience.

Leeds City College: Digital literacy in ESOL - Leadership in Technology case study 2013

eg:6200

This project addressed an identified need to update and develop new learning materials and ways of communicating appropriate both to the students and to the rapidly changing field of Digital Literacy, with a particular focus on ESOL students, assisting them to effectively communicate online and create a positive online presence. The project also looked at how to develop staff skills in this area.

Isle of Wight Council: Using mobile voting handsets

eg:6198

This project sought to capture evidence of learner satisfaction and achievement easily, efficiently and anonymously using very portable digital voting handsets. This would overcome a number of issues with written surveys and evaluations and offer portability and the potential to save money. The project also explored collaboration between organisations with different delivery models.

Exeter College: Exploring lecture capture possibilities - Leadership in Technology case study 2013

eg:6197

For some time the college had been keen to integrate the capturing, storing and dissemination of teaching sessions (audio and video) into the normal working practices of its staff. This project explored the available technological solutions as well as the values and attitudes of practitioners to the concept of recording classroom practice and how such values changed following trial runs.
