Newcastle-under-Lyme College took part in the Social Enterprise Ambassadors' programme to enable them to identify opportunities to support the establishment of social enterprises both within the College, Stoke Enterprise Learning Partnership and communities within Staffordshire. Social enterprise is now firmly on the College's agenda.
Taking part in the Social Enterprise Ambassadors' Programme, Longden looked to increase collaboration between themselves as a learning and skills provider and the West Midlands social enterprise sector. Further, Longden wished to to build their capacity to create a Social Enterprise by refining the work that they do within the five Local Authorities to create self sustaining activities and contributing to a philosophy of doing more for less.
This project aimed to improve engagement with potential learners and employers and to provide an interactive resource area. In addition, Platinum wanted to improve staff confidence in the use of technology and encourage staff to use web based training materials.
This project sought to improve the utilisation of ICT as a tool in delivering teaching and learning and in efficient day-to-day operations and was targeted to deliver on five distinct aims over a 6-month period encompassing communications, staff CPD, training materials and e-learning.
The project aimed to transform CWT’s approach to curriculum design and delivery, creating a culture where e-learning is fundamental to the learning experience. This comprised of the creation of a web based platform and the introduction of smart board technology, as well as developing the skills of leaders to effectively manage the change in approach.
This case study shows how Leeds City College sought to implement e-collaboration through the shared design of a distance learning course, and as a result save tutor time, reduce the College’s carbon footprint, increase productivity and improve cross-campus curriculum efficiency.

This presentation shows how collaboration across a region can reduce staff costs through online recruiting and advertising. Approaches include use of the www.monster.co.uk online system at discounted rates, plus negotiating better federated pricing for other advertising.
