Cambridgeshire Library Learning Centre aimed to use ICT and social media to enable the sharing of information and knowledge across the countryside area of Cambridgeshire known as “the Fens”. The sharing of information would aid in the increase of productivity levels and address social isolation through the use of social media.
City College Plymouth aimed to engage new learners from disaffected and deprived backgrounds to become college students. It worked with community based iorganisations, such as the Shekinah mission (an organisation supporting homeless people) delivering learning at their premises, and then identified progression opportunities to join a mainstream college course.
On the back of The Isle of Wight being identified by the Office of National Statistics as an employment blackspot, this pilot used the It's My Community toolkit to bring learners and the business community together to investigate ways to stimulate employment and job creation. The toolkit helped learners frame the questions asked during the project, and broadened the learners thinking about community and its relationship with local business.
Newcastle-under-Lyme College took part in the Social Enterprise Ambassadors' programme to enable them to identify opportunities to support the establishment of social enterprises both within the College, Stoke Enterprise Learning Partnership and communities within Staffordshire. Social enterprise is now firmly on the College's agenda.
Taking part in the Social Enterprise Ambassadors' Programme, Longden looked to increase collaboration between themselves as a learning and skills provider and the West Midlands social enterprise sector. Further, Longden wished to to build their capacity to create a Social Enterprise by refining the work that they do within the five Local Authorities to create self sustaining activities and contributing to a philosophy of doing more for less.
The purpose of this guide, produced by the Cabinet Office, is to standardise practice, develop the methodology, and provide more clarity on the use of social return on investment (SROI). It has been written for people who want to measure and analyse the social, environmental and economic value being generated by their activities or by the activities they are funding or commissioning.
This presentation presents evidence and recommendations to providers looking to improve resource utilisation and identify resource and cost savings. The presentation shows how measurement and process change can save an audited £1 million annually from the budget.
This project aimed to improve engagement with potential learners and employers and to provide an interactive resource area. In addition, Platinum wanted to improve staff confidence in the use of technology and encourage staff to use web based training materials.
This project shows how collaborative processes and bidding can help smaller work-based learning providers to survive in a world of Minimum Contract Values by unlocking the ability to improve quality and
cut costs via collaboration.
