Resource Type:
etf
PID:
etf:2653

A case study on the impacts of completing a learning journal, and encouraging deeper reflection, on the progress of level 1 construction students aged 16-19.

Taxonomy:
Practitioner Research and Evidence Hub:
Yes
Principal focus of the project:

The research was focused on ensuring learners were gaining the ability to recall past learnings through their own writing, free from physical constraints, and with the ability to express their feelings within the journals. Learners were asked to complete a survey, and then semi-structured interviews were carried out by course tutors, supplemented with data from statistics, websites and reports

What is this about and what were the main findings:

The evidence collected indicated that learning journals enhanced the learning process in a practical setting, encouraging learners to think about their work. Learners reported that documenting learning processes allowed them to reflect on their work, deepen understanding and improve recall.
