Principal focus of the project: 

The research foccused on gaining greater understanding of skills for employability from the perspective of the learner, the early years setting and the Childcare lecturers/college practitioners as well as to support the college strategic aims. It also aimed to build and further strengthen relationships with the wider community.

What is this about and what were the main findings: 

Skills for employability were found to be essential for practice. Communcation skills were highlighted as crucial by a signifcant majority across all groups consulted. Relaibislity and teamwork were the skills that features as a next level priority although learners gave considerable less priority to this than settings and lecturers. The project highlighted the importance of embedding these skills through experiential, active, contextualised learning. The report also highlights the importance of developing students' and a positive orientation towards learning.
