Principal focus of the project:

The aim of this project was to develop the study skills of GCSE Maths resit learners by creating short preparation tasks that also enabled them to monitor the impact on their own learning.

What is this about and what were the main findings:

The project focussed on BTEC Public Services Levels 1-3 students by providing them with 20 minute 'Preparation Tasks' using Mathswatch on a weekly basis before their lessons took place. They incorporated skills previously taught, which would be used in the forthcoming lesson, and offered learners the opportunity to try new skills that were about to be learned.Videos were available to watch that explained the methods alongside each question. The project reported that class norms had changed, with learners enjoying lessons more, working harder and results improving.
