University of Warwick - The accelerator project – enhancing quality and opportunities within teacher training in the Lifelong Learning sector

The project will develop new models of ITE provision featuring a shortened time frame for delivery; e mentoring support; and efficient observations. There will be three new DTLLS programmes: one generic, one literacy and one numeracy. The latter two courses are being delivered by blended learning.

University of Sunderland Centre for Excellence in Teacher Training (SUNCETT) - Excellence and sustainability in ITE for the FE and Skills sector

The University of Sunderland in consultation with key stakeholders and Partner Institutions has designed, developed and explored ways to provide an open, accessible, sustainable and affordable blended learning route (60 credits HE Level1 & 2). This blended learning programme includes PTTLS and a University Integrated Foundation Certificate which can lead towards the award of the full Professional Graduate/ Certificate in Education Post Compulsory Education and Training (PCET).

University of Bolton - Skills for Life Initial Teacher Training - Extending Access

The University of Bolton and Skills Solutions project has been set up with the intention of making integrated SfL Initial Teacher Training provision accessible for trainees who find traditional provision difficult to access. We have developed, with our project partners, Skills Solutions and the WEA (Workers’ Educational Association), a blended learning approach for the combined Literacy & ESOL route. This programme can be delivered flexibly, involving online study supported by locally delivered face-to-face sessions.

Staffordshire University - Supporting Employability in Initial Teacher Education

Building on our existing partnership with delivering institutions and employers, we will develop and deliver from September 2012 an award suite for current and potential teachers in the Lifelong Learning sector.
Working with LSIS and our partner colleges, we have engaged with learners and employers to develop an award suite of initial teacher education qualifications. This new suite was based on the following principles:
1) developing employer engagement
2) flexibility of options and recognition of prior learning to widen participation

South West Centre for Excellence in Teacher Training (SWCETT) - Sharing Innovation in Teacher Education (SITE)

The SITE project established a cross-sector team to identify and share Initial Teacher Education innovation in partnership with providers, employers and other organisations. It identified, piloted, evaluated and shared effective innovations and embedded them in a range of partners’ programmes to contribute sustainable solutions to the future of ITE.

Royal Artillery Centre for Personal Development - 21st Century Teaching and Learning - the Right Blend!

Working closely with a respected HEI, RA CPD have developed a brand-new blended-learning model to deliver a Level 5 Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS) to soldiers in The Royal Artillery. The model of delivery utilises learning technology and a newly-developed Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).

Northumbria University - Innovative and flexible approaches to teacher training and CPD in the post compulsory sector

The aim of this project is to enhance the choice of routes for Initial Teacher Training and CPD that support the needs of the learners, employers and staff development managers. It is also intended that, through high quality professional development, the standard of teaching in the sector will be enhanced.

Newcastle College - Employer-Led Initial Teacher Education (ELITE)

The ELITE (Employer-Led ITE) consortium focused on developing a model of initial teacher education (ITE) attractive to:
• Employers – who could see clearly how the programmes supported business development needs, would merit investment and would have clear, measurable impact on learner success
• New and existing teaching staff – who could see how programmes built on their existing skills, were equipping them

Institute of Education - "Two-for-one" - Creating new pathways to teaching mathematics/numeracy and English/literacy/language in the FE sector

The project aimed to develop and strengthen subject-specific initial teacher education for post-14 English and mathematics. Working with subject experts, it developed new integrated routes to qualifying in preparation for QTS/QTLS for either: English (Functional English, literacy and ESOL) or
Mathematics (Functional maths, numeracy and GCSE/GCE maths)
