Professional development planning provider kit

etf:743

Here is a range of resources, developed through the Workforce Development element of the Skills for Life Support Programme, to help you plan professional development for your staff in literacy (English), language (ESOL) and numeracy (maths) collectively referred to as LLN. To help you use the resources effectively read 'Making the most of the PDP provider kit' which can be found in the Excellence Gateway.

ESOL starter kit

etf:730

ESOL stands for ‘English for Speakers of Other Languages’ and was considered to be one of the 'Skills for Life' together with literacy and numeracy. Although the Skills for Life programme itself no longer exists the advice contained here is still relevant to ESOL delivery today.
This starter kit provides support and guidance, information and resources for developing and delivering ESOL. It includes the development of blended learning approaches. It is aimed at providers who are new to ESOL and providers who would like to review and further develop their delivery of ESOL.

Employability starter kit

etf:726

This kit supports those who are developing employability provision in response to learners seeking work, those at risk of redundancy and those who are in work but need to improve their skills to sustain their employment and make progress. Through its five sections the kit links providers to useful resources and guidance which should help those new to employability provision take the steps needed to get started.

Embedding Language, Literacy and Numeracy across the curriculum

etf:718

The aim of the Embedding LLN Starter Kit is to provide support and guidance for less experienced providers on the embedding of maths English and ESOL across the curriculum . It aims to support developments that will improve the quality of your embedded LLN offer and improve learner success. Although the terminology has now changed and the focus is now on 'English' and 'maths' the guidance on literacy and numeracy is still as relevant to the 'new' subjects. It is just as important to embed English and maths today as it was with the Skills for Life programme.

Dyslexia starter kit

etf:717

The Dyslexia Starter Kit aims to help you review your provision for dyslexic learners, or to help less experienced providers develop dyslexia support from scratch by: Supporting developments that will improve the quality of your dyslexia support offer; Enhancing consideration of equality, diversity and inclusion; and Improving learner achievement. It links to a variety of resources in the Excellence Gateway and to the Dyslexia toolkit on the Foundation Online Learning environment.

Creating accessible learning materials

etf:716

This toolkit is designed to enable teachers and trainers to create effective, engaging and accessible learning materials for their learners. Grouped into eight categories, this collection of guidance and resources merges pedagogical and technical advice where previously these have been scattered over several different channels. The aim is to provide effective resources for Learners with Learning Difficulties and/or Disabilities (LLDD). These are also now called resources for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

CPD starter kit

etf:715

This starter kit is aimed at leaders, managers and practitioners and provides guidance on providing continuing professional development for staff in embedding English, maths and ESOL across the curriculum. Although the resource uses the old Skills for Life terms: literacy, numeracy and language, to describe these subjects all the strategies are still valid. Users should be aware that the documents in the Excellence Gateway identified in this resource may also use the old terminology.

Numeracy starter kit

etf:714

This numeracy starter kit provides links to useful resources to help providers deliver maths, numeracy and functional maths in a variety of contexts. It will help new providers to get started and provide existing providers with useful advice on improving their delivery.
