The overall aim of the project was to build and implement the ‘Pathway to Excellence’, a high quality performance management framework that would drive the quality of teaching, learning and assessment across all apprenticeships to ‘outstanding’.

Advanced Practitioner Toolkit - Professional Development Cards

This toolkit has been produced to support the work of Advanced Practitioners (APs). It builds on an original set of cards used to develop the skills of teaching and learning coaches who, using a peer to peer coaching model, work with staff to improve specific aspects of their delivery. The cards are practical tools aimed at supporting APs to drive quality improvements in teaching, learning and assessment across provision. They can be used when working one to one with collages as well as with small groups and department teams.

It provides the latest policy updates on apprenticeship reforms and addresses key challenges around teaching, learning and assessment. The guide also provides links to a wide range of resources and CPD training to support effective delivery of maths and English in apprenticeships.

Introduction to Action Research: e-CPD module

A comprehensive e-CPD module developed as part of the Foundation’s ‘Practitioner-Led Action Research’ programme (2013 - 2015) to provide an introduction to action research. It is designed to be dipped in and out depending on practitioners' starting points. The module can be used in many ways e.g. as an individual or working through the sections during team meetings. The module consists of eleven sections exploring topics such as the purpose of action research, different models of action research, methodology and an action plan checklist.

Communication Starters and Enders Cards

The Education and Training Foundation has produced a set of cards containing short activities that can be used at the start or end of prison workshops, training or education sessions to help learners develop their confidence and abilities to communicate effectively. This is particularly important for employability, or the communication practices people need to take part in to seek and keep work and navigate their lives and learning.
