Participanting team leaders had to identify key KPIs, complete observations of staff working in other teams, and identify and share good practice. They also benchmarked the current position of their team against outstanding practice through implementation of the new observation scheme, with observations being carried out across teams.

The overall aim of the project was to build and implement the ‘Pathway to Excellence’, a high quality performance management framework that would drive the quality of teaching, learning and assessment across all apprenticeships to ‘outstanding’.

What is this about and what were the main findings: 

The project showed multiple reasons to be optimistic about positive impact. The data on the data dashboards show a strong correlation between the quality of teaching, learning and assessment by tutor-assessor and learners’ attendance, retention and achievement rates. Staff was effectively involved in the evaluation of teaching, learning and assessment, the sharing of resources and best practice, and the provision of support.
