National Union of Students UK (NUS): Student-led dialogue on LGBT and Faith

This resource comprises the report and resources developed by the Equality and Diversity Partnership Project led by the National Union of Students (NUS). The overall aim of the initiative was to support staff and learners to tackle real and perceived tensions between lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) equalities, and religion and belief equalities, in FE colleges. The project focused on dialogue as a means to increase and improve inter-personal communication between learners relating to the subject of faith and sexuality.

Humber Learning Consortium: Improving E&D practice across a voluntary and community sector network

This resource comprises the report and resources developed by the Equality and Diversity Partnership Project led by the Humber Learning Consortium. The overall aim was to improve equality and diversity practice across a network of 20 voluntary community sector (VCS) learning providers in the Humber sub-region. A Quality Improvement Network was launched and questionnaire created and completed by 20 VCS delivery partners.

Hopwood Hall College: Equality Peer Ambassadors

This resource comprises the report and resources developed by the Equality and Diversity Partnership Project led by Hopwood Hall College. The project aimed to train 12 learners as Peer Ambassadors and champion of equality and diversity issues that are relevant to learners and young people in the Borough of Rochdale. Fifteen learners and two members of staff were trained in specific equality specialist areas and in Philosophical Enquiry methods. The resources included are a case study and an Equality Ambassadors Project presentation.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council: Addressing under-representation of gypsies and travellers in learning and promoting the development and sustainability of new businesses

The aim was to bring together the gypsy/traveller communities and arts/craft people to enhance the development and sustainability of new businesses through a combination of virtual business solutions and community tourist/craft ventures. This involved a wide range of local and one national bodies.

City of Wolverhampton College and Remploy: Increasing Economic Participation for Learners with Learning Difficulties and/or Disabilities

This resource comprises the report and resources developed by an Equality and Diversity Partnership Project led by City of Wolverhampton College and Remploy. The project conducted research and analysis into employer related data and intelligence relating specifically to the employment of learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities in the Wolverhampton and the West Midlands. This research was carried out with 20 employers in the area.

Boston College: Speak Up Speak Out

This resource comprises the report and resources developed by an Equality and Diversity Partnership Project led by Boston College. The project used a programme of workshops and visits by staff and students to the Holocaust Centre in Newark to explore the themes of intolerance and prejudice, and promote positive behaviour and attitudes towards diversity and difference both within the College environment and the wider community. Learners from across all curriculum areas were engaged (but a key focus of the project was on young white working class males).

WILD Young Parent's Project - Inspiring Young Mums through IAG and Student Experience Days

This resource comprises the report and resources developed by an Equality and Diversity Partnership Project led by the WILD Young Parents’ Project (with Cornwall College) in 2009-10. The aim of the project was to improve the access to college for young mothers living in Cornwall by providing ‘experience days’ and offering support to overcome the barriers that they face. The project was centred on learners and their individual needs which shaped the content and delivery style.

Small Woods Association - Amazon Woman

This resource comprises the report and resources developed by an Equality and Diversity Partnership Project led by the Small Woods Association (with Telford & Wrekin Council and West Mercia Probation Trust) in 2009-10. ‘Amazon Woman’ was a 12 week structured learning programme which demonstrated the opportunities for women offenders within the occupationally segregated Forestry sector. Taking place two days per week in a woodland environment, the women received expert tuition and support to gain skills in woodland management and greenwood crafts.

Sussex Downs College - Equality & Diversity in Apprenticeship delivery - mapping the Apprentice learner journey against Equality & Diversity themes

The aim of the project was to improve the understanding of WBL providers on how to evidence Equality & Diversity through the production of a good practice toolkit.
