Whole Organisation Development Process (WODP) in Offender Learning

The Whole Organisation Development Process has been designed, by the sector for the sector, to establish a prison led approach to quality improvement of learning, skills and work. The pack aims to support the Learning and Skills Manager and the Quality Improvement Group to:

- assess the position of their learning, skills and work provision in relation to Ofsted’s new Common Inspection Framework (2015);
- assist them in preparation for formal inspection;
- support the role of the Nominee.

Learning Futures Project - FIT Governance

This project from the Workers Educational Association, worked with governors and trustees to capture the skills and knowledge needed by strategic decision makers to drive forward the management and use of technologies in learning.

Guide for Learning, Skills and Employment Managers

This new guide is designed for managers who have responsibility for managing prison education under the new prison education reforms introduced in April 2019. At the forefront of these reforms is the empowered prison Governor, who has the freedom to set the strategic vision for their establishment’s education programme, and to ensure this is delivered in the best way for their learners. The governor’s senior team and wider prison staff play a key role in delivering the governor’s vision for education, skills and employment.

CAVTL One year on review

A. reflects on progress in raising the status and quality of vocational education and training;
B. recognises the significant contribution of the new Education and Training Foundation to the early implementation of the CAVTL recommendations;

Design for Improvement: a service design approach for Further Education providers

Service design is an approach that can be used to improve Further Education (FE) provider services and strategies. This guide describes how FE providers can apply service design processes and tools to improve recruitment, attainment, achievement and progression figures. The tools and process contained here were put into practice by five FE providers that took part in the Design for Improvement programme. Funded by the Learning, Skills and Improvement Service and designed and delivered by Uscreates, Design for Improvement is a learn-by-doing training programme.
