Principal focus of the project:

The project focussed on writing in a specific genre that suited the majority of the learners, to escape the stereotype of a 'tedious English lesson' and build stamina and ‘writing fitness’.

What is this about and what were the main findings:

Having identified that their learners enjoyed the genre of 'horror', creative writing tasks, group dscussions and vocabulary buildng exercises were structured around it. This was followed by introducing  a scaffolding technique called 'slow writing'. The project reported that this had made a considerable difference in developing learners' higher level writing skills.
