A case study into a project and its extension, which explored developing a cost effective and sustainable model of involving industry experts in classroom delivery.
Through the project partnership, industry experts were provided with professional development for pedagogy, who then exchanged current vocational practice and knowledge requirements with STEM teaching practitioners. The use of questionnaires for the project partners and participants addressed and captured pre-project responses from learners, teachers and Master Technicians and post-MT teaching session reflections from learners, teachers and Master Technicians.
The project found clear links between the Master Technician sessions that ran and the positive influence the sessions have had on the learners, with reported increases in gaining new skills, feelings of inspiration, and confidence. Teachers indicated their confidence had increased, and felt it would now be easier to embed industry within their teaching.
