The main focus of the project was to increase GCSE maths attainment, by developing English skills, particularly around decoding problem-solving questions.

What is this about and what were the main findings:

To develop a collaborative community in the classroom, English and Maths tutors from across the campuses worked in partnerships on individual projects in response to the overall theme. These inovlved employing reciprocal teaching techniques, and building Maths vocabulary into English lessons, e.g. through discussion and the use of word walls. All tutors noted that learners appeared better equipped for questions and understanding problem-solving in Maths.
