Ealing Council and Action Acton: The People’s Parks Project

This resource comprises the report and resources developed by an Equality and Diversity Partnership Project led by Ealing Council and Action Acton. The project engaged female learners from under-represented minority groups in Ealing through activities designed to promote integration, and social and digital inclusion. It also created opportunities for participants to improve their English language skills as well as competence and confidence in using it.

City of Wolverhampton College and Remploy: Increasing Economic Participation for Learners with Learning Difficulties and/or Disabilities

This resource comprises the report and resources developed by an Equality and Diversity Partnership Project led by City of Wolverhampton College and Remploy. The project conducted research and analysis into employer related data and intelligence relating specifically to the employment of learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities in the Wolverhampton and the West Midlands. This research was carried out with 20 employers in the area.

Charnwood Training Group: Equality and Diversity Awareness Raising

This resource comprises the report and resources developed by an Equality and Diversity Partnership Project led by Charnwood Training Group. The main aim of the project was to build a scenario based contingent navigation programme, built up from a video-rich series of modules, as part of a blended learning approach. This was supported by a network of Equality and Diversity Ambassadors created from Charnwood employees. The outputs included nine Charnwood Equality and Diversity Ambassadors undertaking a 4 day training programme and the creation of a mobile phone app for Charnwood staff.

Boston College: Speak Up Speak Out

This resource comprises the report and resources developed by an Equality and Diversity Partnership Project led by Boston College. The project used a programme of workshops and visits by staff and students to the Holocaust Centre in Newark to explore the themes of intolerance and prejudice, and promote positive behaviour and attitudes towards diversity and difference both within the College environment and the wider community. Learners from across all curriculum areas were engaged (but a key focus of the project was on young white working class males).

Small Woods Association - Amazon Woman

This resource comprises the report and resources developed by an Equality and Diversity Partnership Project led by the Small Woods Association (with Telford & Wrekin Council and West Mercia Probation Trust) in 2009-10. ‘Amazon Woman’ was a 12 week structured learning programme which demonstrated the opportunities for women offenders within the occupationally segregated Forestry sector. Taking place two days per week in a woodland environment, the women received expert tuition and support to gain skills in woodland management and greenwood crafts.

Stockton Riverside College - Celebrating BME Diversity to Promote Inclusivity

This resource comprises the report and resources developed by an Equality and Diversity Partnership Project led by Stockton Riverside College. The context of the project was that the North East of England has very few people from BME backgrounds and hence, few BME learners/staff within the college. The population being mainly white British means that our learners are not exposed to different cultures/religions very often; which can lead to barriers in understanding and communication.

Accrington and Rossendale College - Meeting the needs of LGB&T learners in Pennine Lancashire

The specific aim was to establish the most effective method to ensure that needs of young Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGB&T) learners in the local area are met by the college. The project provided the opportunity to better understand the needs of LGB&T learners and to maximise their participation and retention within the college.

Grimsby Institute of Further & Higher Education - Empower

The project aimed to enable better understanding of the experiences and barriers of LGBT people in education, learning and training and look at how good educational professionals are at promoting all sexualities and gender identities. The resources included are the final report, the Empower toolkit, an Empower executive summary, and recommended resources.

Walsall College - Black Country Partnership Learning Project

This resource comprises the report and resources developed by the Equality and Diversity Partnership Project led by Walsall College in 2009-10. This project aimed to develop an online resource to help Classroom Support Assistants (CSAs) to broaden their awareness of E&D to enable them to increase personalisation of support and provide more effective support for all learners and increase their own job satisfaction. The resources included are the final report and a guide to using the E&D Moodle.
