Resource Type:

Practitioner Research and Evidence Hub:

Principal focus of the project:

This project aimed to develop their team's ability to deliver Maths remotely, while researching the relationship between learner misconceptions and 'Maths anxiety'.

What is this about and what were the main findings:

The team adapted their resources to fit the '5Rs' (Smith, 2020), accommodate 'Variation Theory' (Barton, 2020), and sought engaging online applications that could be used for effective TLA. Direct misconception 'buster' sessions were delivered, and surveys held on Maths anxiety. The project reported that the transfer to online had been successful, that they had identified a couple of key misconceptions, but that more research was required into Maths anxiety.
