Resource Type:

Description:

This project looked at how to use Additional Learning Support (ALS)  more effectively to encourage greater learner engagement.

Principal focus of the project:

The aim of this project was how to overcome the perceived stigma - attached by learners - of seeking support from Additional Learning Support (ALS).

What is this about and what were the main findings:

The approach involved collaborative working between the teacher, ALS and instructor (for coaching and VESPA sessions) using MS Teams breakout rooms as a regular part of online lessons, and so perceived by students as being 'normal'. The project reported that this embedded approach had been very successful as learners who may not have previously accessed ALS were confidently asking for extra feedback.
