A case study of a project that aimed to identify strategies for effectively embedding English into vocational areas of learning, with a particular focus on e-learning and digital learning approaches, through supporting teachers seeking support in this area.
The project focused on embedding English into vocational areas of learning, principally art and design, ICT, health and social care, business, ESOL and foundation English. Participants designed resources for use with their learners, and resources aimed at embedding English within another curriculum area, providing an opportunity to share good practices with established partners.
All three colleges involved saw changes in organisational cultures in relation to digital learning and creating a culture of innovation in teaching and learning, and promoted reflective practice through emphasising CPD. Capturing data on the projects impact allowed participants to embed 'what works' into normal working practices and create momentum for further innovastion in teaching. The use of digital and informational learning technologies has improved and been embedded into other areas of teaching and learning, with emphasis on embedding English in all vocational courses.
