Description:

Entry-level immersive technology has reached a price and complexity point where it is now accessible to the average classroom, but how can teachers effectively integrate immersive technologies into their lessons? It's this question that a partnership of Sussex training providers sought to answer in 2018 through the Outstanding Teaching, Learning and Assessment programme (OTLA 3). Plumpton College led the project. In addition to the project case study, final report and presentation in the folder below, the project published a dedicated website https://www.teachingwithvirtualreality.com as a guide for other practitioners who wish to start using virtual reality technology in their teaching. The project explored and demonstrated the potential for using immersive technologies in a wide range of curriculum areas, and carried out trials in agriculture, science, hospitality, aeronautical engineering, animal care, prop-making, countryside, motor vehicle, and travel and tourism.

Accessibility note: The ETF has edited and reformatted this case study for accessibility with screen readers. Unfortunately, as the project partners produced the final report, presentation to AoC, and Teaching with Virtual Reality website these may not be fully accessible.
