Description:

A report describing a project aiming to share good teaching practice among practitioners to improve the quality and consistency of teaching.

Practitioner Research and Evidence Hub:

Principal focus of the project:

This project focused on using recording equipment in the classroom to overcome logistical barriers, including time, that prevented frequent peer observation of teaching practice. This enabled practitioners to see their own performance and reflect on it later. 'Champions' were trained in the use of the technology to promote the use of the cameras, and to model the process to be used with staff.

What is this about and what were the main findings:

Staff who used the camera system provided positive feedback on its impacts on their work and teaching. The system also proved to be cost efficient and more effective way of performing observations of staff performances. Practitioners who were already receiving excellent feedback on their practices had their footage used as examples of excellent practice for others. Data was gathered through interviews/surveys and observation of practice.
